Let’s live a blessed life

1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, 2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—

whatever they do prospers. (Psalms 1:1-3)

What is a blessing?

Blessing as described by ancestors

1)  (Life )의 복

     Blessing of life

2)  (wealth: )의 복

   Blessing of wealth

3)  (precious/valuable: )의 복

Blessing of value

Blessing as described by the bible

Blessing given to Abraham

12Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the Lord blessed him. 13The man became rich, and his wealth continued to grow until he became very wealthy. 14He had so many flocks and herds and servants that the Philistines envied him( Genesis 26:12-14)

3May God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and increase your numbers until you become a community of peoples. 4May he give you and your descendants the blessing given to Abraham, so that you may take possession of the land where you now reside as a foreigner, the land God gave to Abraham.

(Genesis 28:3,4)

3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse;  and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you. (Genesis 12:3)

14He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit. (Galatians 3:14)

13Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole (Galatians 3:13)

9So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. (Galatians 3:9)

14He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit. (Galatians 3:14)

26When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.” (Acts 3:26)

The blessing that was given in the New testament

3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will (Ephesians 1:3-5)

첫째 하늘에 속한 in heavenly realms

Spiritual

Why should you want to live a blessed life?

Living a blessed life makes God happy

3“You shall have no other gods before me. 4“You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.7“You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

(Exodus 20:3-7)

Jesus shared the words that lead to a blessed life

How can you live a blessed life?

Live according to God’s will

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for

you in Christ Jesus.19 Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not treat prophecies with contempt 21but test them all; hold on to what is good, 22reject every kind of evil. 23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.

(1Thessalonians 5:16-24)

Live a life loving God always

37Jesus replied: “ Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

(Matthew 22:37-40)

Live a life lifting up a worship that is pleasing to God

42They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. (Acts 2:42-27)

1Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:1,2)
