Romans로마서 1:13-17
13형제들아 내가 여러번 너희에게 가고자 한것을 너희가 모르기를 원치 아니하노니 이는 너희 중에서도 다른 이방인 중에서와 같이 열매를 맺게 하려 함이로되 지금까지 길이 막혔도다 14헬라인이나 야만이나 지혜 있는 자나 어리석은 자에게 다 내가 빚진 자라 15그러므로 나는 할 수 있는대로 로마에 있는 너희에게도 복음 전하기를 원하노라 16내가 복음을 부끄러워하지 아니하노니 이 복음은 모든 믿는 자에게 구원을 주시는 하나님의 능력이 됨이라 첫째는 유대인에게요 또한 헬라인에게로다 17복음에는 하나님의 의가 나타나서 믿음으로 믿음에 이르게 하나니 기록된바 오직 의인은 믿음으로 말미암아 살리라 함과 같으니라
13 I do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, that I planned many times to come to you (but have been prevented from doing so until now) in order that I might have a harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles. 14 I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. 15That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome. 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” (Romans 1:13-17)

철이 든다는 말은 어린티를 벗고 성숙해진다는 뜻입니다.
철이 들면 은혜를 깨닫게 됩니다
신앙생활도 다를바가 없습니다.
신앙의 철이 들기 전에는 하나님께 복만 달라고 졸라댑니다.
철들고 성숙해지면 은혜를 깨닫고 변화됩니다.
고전 15:10 그러나 나의 나 된 것은 하나님의 은혜로 된 것이니 내게 주신 그의 은혜가 헛되지 아니하여 내가 모든 사도보다 더 많이 수고하였으나 내가 아니요 오직 나와 함께하신 하나님의 은혜로라
10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. (1Corinthians 15:10)
1. 사도 바울의 고백은: 복음에 빚을 진자
Apostle Paul confesses about the obligation/debt for the gospel.
14절 헬라인이나 야만이나 지혜 있는 자나 어리석은 자에게 다 내가 빚진 자라
14 I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish (Romans 1:14)
바울은 하나님께, 예수그리스도께 엄청난 은혜를 입었습니다. 사랑의 빚을 진 것입니다. 하지만 그 은혜를 직접 갚을 길이 없습니다. 하나님은 그 빚을 다른 사람들에게 갚기를 바라십니다. 하나님께 빚을 진 것이 곧 사람들에게 빚을 진 것이라는 뜻입니다.
1) 하나님께 빚을 갚기 위해서는
In order to repay the debt to God.
다른 사람들에게 사랑을 실천하고 복음을 전하면 됩니다.
37예수께서 가라사대 네 마음을 다하고 목숨을 다하고 뜻을 다하여 주 너의 하나님을
사랑하라 하셨으니 38이것이 크고 첫째 되는 계명이요 39둘째는 그와 같으니 네
이웃을 네 몸과 같이 사랑하라. ( 마22:37-39 )
37 Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

2) 주변의 약자들에게 사랑을 실천하면 .
If you love those that are less fortunate.
그것이 곧 주님께 한 것과 같다는 원리를 말씀합니다.
“내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 너희가 여기 내 형제 중 기극히 작은 자 하나에게 한 것이 곧 내게 한 것이니라 “ (마25:40)
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ (Matthew 25;40)
3) 예수 그리스도께서 승천하시면서 유언적 명령을 합니다.
To follow the last will and command of Jesus Christ as he ascended.
19그러므로 너희는 가서 모든 족속으로 제자를 삼아 아버지와 아들과 성령의 이름으로 세례를 주고 20내가 너희에게 분부한 모든 것을 가르쳐 지키게 하라 볼찌어다 내가 세상 끝날까지 너희와 항상 함께 있으리라 하시니라 (마28:19-20)
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19,20)
모든 민족에게 복을 전하는 것이 주님의 은혜에 보답하는 것입니다.
7내가 너희에게 이르노니 이와 같이 죄인 하나가 회개하면 하늘에서는 회개할 것 없는 의인 아흔 아홉을 인하여 기뻐하는 것보다 더하리라 (눅 15:7)
7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. (Luke 15:7)
바울은 이런 원리를 잘 알기에 복음에 빚진자로 복음을 전파하며 헌신했습니다.
2. 우리도 복음에 빚진 자
We too are obligated and debtors for the gospel.
1) 개인적으로 :
Individually
죄로 영원히 죽을 수 밖에 없었지만 복음을 받고 죄와 사망에서 구원 받았습니다. 이제는 하나님을 아바아버지라 부르면서 천국을 소망하며 영생을 누리게 되었습니다.
롬8:15너희는 다시 무서워하는 종의 영을 받지 아니하였고 양자의 영을 받았으므로
아바 아버지라 부르짖느니라
15The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the
Spirit, you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
(Romans 8:15)
2) 민족적으로
As a people
이 민족에게 복음을 전해 준 사람들이 있었기에 예수 믿고 구원받은 것입니다.
롬 10:13-15
13누구든지 주의 이름을 부르는 자는 구원을 얻으리라 14그런즉 저희가 믿지 아니하는 이를 어찌 부르리요 듣지도 못한 이를 어찌 믿으리요 전파하는 자가 없이 어찌 들으리요 15보내심을 받지 아니하였으면 어찌 전파하리요 기록된바 아름답도다 좋은 소식을 전하는 자들의 발이여 함과 같으니라
13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Romans 10:13-15)

An introduction to a book
이용남 선교사가 쓴 복음에 미치다 입니다.
영국인 로버트 토마스 목사(Robert Thomas 1840-1866)
선교사로 조선 입국이 불가능하지 중국에 머물며 조선어를 배우다 통역관으로 취직하여 1886년 미국 상선 제너럴 써먼호를 타고 입국을 시도합니다. 그러나 입국하지 못하고 대동강변에서 포졸들에게 목이 잘려 순교합니다. 마지막 순간에도 포졸에게 성경을 전해주고 숨을 거둡니다. 그때 나이가 27세 였습니다. 그 피가 오늘 우리 민족을 있게 한 것입니다. 그가 전해준 한권 성경으로 많은 사람들이 예수를 믿게 됩니다. Unable to enter Joseon as a missionary, he stayed in China, learned Korean, and then worked as an interpreter. In 1886, he attempted to enter the country aboard the American merchant ship General Thurman. However, he was unable to enter and was martyred by police officers on the Taedong River. Even in his final moments, he gave the officer a Bible before dying. He was only 27 years old. His blood has shaped our nation today. Many people have come to believe in Jesus thanks to the Bible he gave them.
죤 헤론 선교사 (John J. Heron 1856-1890)
파송받은 것로는 최초의 조선 선교사입니다. 미국 ㅔ네시의대 수석졸업새응로 교수자리까지 보장 받은 엘리트 였습니다. 그 모든 것을 다 포기하고 조선 선교사가 되었습니다. 약손녀가 있었는데 만류하다 못해 같이 선교사로 옵니다. 그런데 안타깝게도 그는 과로로 전염병에 걸려 5년만에 죽게 됩니다.
국가 의료기관인 제중원 원장겸 고종 황제의 주치의로 활동 했습니다. 그때 그를 위해 고종이 땅을 준게 바로 지금의 합정동의 양화진 선교사 모지가 됩니다. He was the first missionary to be sent to Korea. He was an elite who had secured a professorship as a top graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in the United States. He gave it all up to become a missionary to Korea. His only granddaughter, who had been persuaded to come with him, persuaded him to join. Tragically, he contracted an infectious disease from overwork and died five years later.
He served as the director of Jejungwon, a national medical institution, and personal physician to Emperor Gojong. The land that Emperor Gojong granted him at the time is now the Yanghwajin Missionary Site in Hapjeong-dong.
언더우드(Horace G. Underwood 1859-1916)와
아펜젤러(Henry Apenzeller 1858-1902)
1885년 공식 선교사로는 최초로 제물포(인천)항에 도착한 선교사입니다. 새문안 교회와 연세대등 여러교회와 학교를 세우며 우리나라 선교와 개화에 크게 공헌하였습니다. He was the first official missionary to arrive at Jemulpo (Incheon) Port in 1885. He established several churches and schools, including Saemunan Church and Yonsei University, and contributed greatly to missionary work and enlightenment in Korea.
로레타홀 (Rosetta Sherwood Hall 1865-1951)
그녀는 의료 선교사였는데 남편 제임스 홀(William James Hall 1860-1894) 과 아들 셔우드 홀(Sherwood Hall 1892-1991) 도 의료 선교사로 며느리 메리안(Marian Bottomey Hall 1896-1991)등 온 가족이 양화진 선교사 묘지에 묻혀 있습니다.
그녀의 남편 James역시 의료 선교사였는데 본래는 중국 선교를 준비하고 있었지만
로제타가 조선으로 가버리자 선교지를 조선으로 바꾸고 이듬해 입국해서 결혼합니다. 이것이 우리 나라에서 거행된 최초의 서양식 결혼식었다고 합니다.
남편 제임스 홀은 그후 서울에서 선교하다 평양으로 옮겨 갔는데 청일 전쟁 와중에 전염병에 감염되어 입국 2년만에 순교합니다.
아내 로제타와 아장 아장 걷는 아들 셔우드 그리고 아직 태중에 있던 딸 에디스를 두고 갑니다. 그런데 더욱 기막힌 것은 딸 에디스 마저 3살때 풍토병으로 죽게 됩니다.
로제타가 그 딸을 남편의 무덤 엎에 둗고 어인 아들 셔우드를 끌어 안으채 그리 기도가 너무 놀랍습니다. She was a medical missionary. Her husband, James Hall (William James Hall, 1860-1894), and son, Sherwood Hall (1892-1991), were also medical missionaries. Their entire family, including their daughter-in-law, Marian Bottomey Hall (1896-1991), are buried in the Yanghwajin Missionary Cemetery.
Her husband, James, was also a medical missionary and had originally planned to serve in China.
But when Rosetta left for Joseon, he changed his mission location to Joseon and returned to Korea the following year to marry. This is said to be the first Western-style wedding ceremony held in Korea.
Her husband, James Hall, later served as a missionary in Seoul before moving to Pyongyang. During the First Sino-Japanese War, he contracted an infectious disease and was martyred just two years after returning to Korea.
He left behind his wife, Rosetta, their toddling son, Sherwood, and their unborn daughter, Edith. Even more shockingly, Edith died of an endemic disease at the age of three. It is amazing how Rosetta laid her daughter on her husband's grave and held her son Sherwood in her arms and prayed.
“하나님! 저와 셔우우 홀은 이땅에서 오래 오래 사역하고 싶습니다.
우리를 사랑해 주세요”
그녀의 묘비에는
“우리가 살아도 주를 위하여 살고 죽어도 주를 위하여 죽나니
그러므로 사나 죽으나 우리가 주의 것이로다”(롬14:8)
8 If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. (Romans 14:8)
3. 빛을 갚는 길은 복음 전파 사명을 감당하는 일
Spreading and witnessing of the gospel is the way to repay this debt.
우리는 개인적으로 민족적으로 엄청난 복음에 빚을 지고 있음을 한 시도 잊어서는 안됩니다. 그 빚을 복음 전파 사명을 감당함으로 갚을 수 있습니다.
14이 천국 복음이 모든 민족에게 증거되기 위하여 온 세상에 전파되리니 그제야 끝이 오리라(마24:14)
14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. (Matthew 24:14)
누가 복음 전파의 사명을 기쁜 마음으로 감당할 수 있겠습니까?
철든 성도들이 해야 합니다. 철든 교희들이 해야 합니다. 우리가 해야 합니다.
이 일은 예수 그리스도께서 재림하시는 그 날까지 계속되어야 합니다.
모든 민족에게 선교해야 되지만 우리에게는 북한이 있습니다. 북한은 우리 민족이면서도 세계에서 모슬렘 나라들과 더불어 가장 복음 전하기 힘든 지역입니다.
물론 김정은을 우상 종교화 하고 전쟁준비에 몰두하는 호전적인 독제체제는 괘씸합니다. 하지만 한 피를 나눈 동족이기에 그렇고 애매하게 고생하는 동포들과 지하교회 성도들을 생각하면 포기할 수 없습니다.
사도 바울은 동족을 위해 눈물로 고백합니다. 그는 이방인에게 복음을 전하면 전할 수록 마음이 강팍한 유대인 동족들이 너무 안타까웠습니다.
롬 9:3 나의 형제 곧 골육의 친척을 위하여 내 자신이 저주를 받아 그리스도에게서 끊어질찌라도 원하는 바로라
3 For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my people, those of my own race, (Romans 9:3)
말씀정리 Conclusion
우리는 개인적으로 민족적으로 복음에 빚진 자들입니다. 어떻게 이 빚을 갚을 수 있을까요?
“가는 선교사”로 헌신하며 나아가야 합니다. 아니면
“보내는 선교사”로 선교를 위한 기도와 물질 후원에 참여해야 합니다.
가든지 ! 보내든지!
무관심하면 안됩니다. 예외 외식을 가지면 안됩니다.
하나님의 은총임을 복음에 빚진 자로서 감당해야 할 사명인 것입니다.
하나님은 우리를 구원하기 위해 귀한 독생자를 주셨습니다.
그리고 우리 민족을 위해 주천명 선교사들의 목숨을 사용하셨습니다.
We are personally and as a people, indebted to the gospel. How can we repay this debt?
We must dedicate ourselves to going forth as missionaries or as those that support missionaries.
Go or send!
We must not be indifferent. We must not make exceptions.
As indebted to the gospel, we must fulfill the mission of God's grace.
God gave His precious only begotten Son to save us.
And He used the lives of the missionaries of Ju,cheonmyeong for our people in Korea.
· 바울은 죽음을 앞두고 디모데에게
“너는 말씀을 전파하라 때를 얻든지 못 얻든지 항상 힘쓰라. 범사에 오래 참음과 가르침으로 경책하며 경계하며 권하라”딤후 4:2)
2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. (2 Timothy 4:2)
