What is Christian Loyalty?

마태복음 25:14-30

14또 어떤 사람이 타국에 갈제 그 종들을 불러 자기 소유를 맡김과 같으니

15각각 그 재능대로 하나에게는 금 다섯 달란트를, 하나에게는 두 달란트를, 하나에게는 한 달란트를 주고 떠났더니 16다섯 달란트 받은 자는 바로 가서 그것으로 장사하여 또 다섯 달란트를 남기고 17두 달란트 받은 자도 그같이 하여 또 두 달란트를 남겼으되 18한 달란트 받은 자는 가서 땅을 파고 그 주인의 돈을 감추어 두었더니 19오랜 후에 그 종들의 주인이 돌아와 저희와 회계할쌔 20다섯 달란트 받았던 자는 다섯 달란트를 더 가지고 와서 가로되 주여 내게 다섯 달란트를 주셨는데 보소서 내가 또 다섯 달란트를 남겼나이다 21그 주인이 이르되 잘 하였도다 착하고 충성된 종아 네가 작은 일에 충성하였으매 내가 많은 것으로 네게 맡기리니 네 주인의 즐거움에 참예할찌어다 하고 22두 달란트 받았던 자도 와서 가로되 주여 내게 두 달란트를 주셨는데 보소서 내가 또 두 달란트를 남겼나이다 23그 주인이 이르되 잘 하였도다 착하고 충성된 종아 네가 작은 일에 충성하였으매 내가 많은 것으로 네게 맡기리니 네 주인의 즐거움에 참예할찌어다 하고 24한 달란트 받았던 자도 와서 가로되 주여 당신은 굳은 사람이라 심지 않은데서 거두고 헤치지 않은데서 모으는 줄을 내가 알았으므로 25두려워하여 나가서 당신의 달란트를 땅에 감추어 두었었나이다 보소서 당신의 것을 받으셨나이다 26그 주인이 대답하여 가로되 악하고 게으른 종아 나는 심지 않은데서 거두고 헤치지 않은데서 모으는 줄로 네가 알았느냐 27그러면 네가 마땅히 내 돈을 취리하는 자들에게나 두었다가 나로 돌아 와서 내 본전과 변리를 받게 할 것이니라 하고 28그에게서 그 한 달란트를 빼앗아 열 달란트 가진 자에게 주어라 29무릇 있는 자는 받아 풍족하게 되고 없는 자는 그 있는 것까지 빼앗기리라 30이 무익한 종을 바깥 어두운데로 내어쫓으라 거기서 슬피 울며 이를 갊이 있으리라 하니라

The Parable of the Bags of Gold

14“Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. 15To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. 16The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more. 17So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more. 18But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.

19“After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. 20The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’

21“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

22“The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’ 23“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

24“Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’ 26“His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? 27Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest. 28“ ‘So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags. 29For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. 30And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ (Matthew 25:14-30)

주님께서 달란트비유로서 충성된 종이 되라고 교훈하셨습니다. 달란트 속에서 어떻게 충성할 것인가를 7가지를 말씀해 주시고 있습니다.

1)     달란트 받은자는 많은 종 가운데 자신을 믿어주어 사명맡겼으니 감사하여 충성하였은즉 사명적인 충성이요 It's missionary loyalty.

2)     주인이 먼데 갔는데 일했으니 은밀한 충성이요 It’s  secret loyalty

3)     책임을 차별있게 맡겼어도 충성했으니 작은 일에 충성이요 It’s Loyalty in small things

4)     수고한 댓가를 얼마 준다는 약속이 없어도 일했으니 값없는 충성이요  It’s priceless loyalty

5)     무슨장사하라고 지시않했으나 재능껏 했으니 재능대로 충성이요,

It’s Loyalty according to talent

6)     언제 온다고 시간약속 없어는데 일했으니 끝까지 충성이요,  It’s Loyal to the end

7)     거액의 돈으로 장사하여 모험이 따랐으니 죽도록 충성함입니다. It’s Loyalty to death

1.   사명적인 충성 It's missionary loyalty

 

1)   하나님이 택하시고 부르심에 감사 (엡3:8,9)

Grateful for God's Chosen and Called

8모든 성도 중에 지극히 작은 자보다 더 작은 나에게 이 은혜를 주신 것은 측량할 수 없는 그리스도의 풍성을 이방인에게 전하게 하시고 9영원부터 만물을 창조하신 하나님 속에 감취었던 비밀의 경륜이 어떠한 것을 드러내게 하려 하심이라

8Although I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ, 9and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things.

(Ephesians 3:8,9)

 

2)   예수께서 구속하신 큰은혜에 감사 (고전 15:8-10)

Thanks for the great grace that Jesus redeemed

8맨 나중에 만삭되지 못하여 난 자 같은 내게도 보이셨느니라 9나는 사도 중에 지극히 작은 자라 내가 하나님의 교회를 핍박하였으므로 사도라 칭함을 받기에 감당치 못할 자로라 10그러나 나의 나 된 것은 하나님의 은혜로 된 것이니 내게 주신 그의 은혜가 헛되지 아니하여 내가 모든 사도보다 더 많이 수고하였으나 내가 아니요 오직 나와 함께하신 하나님의 은혜로라

8and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

9For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.  (1Conrinthians 15:8-10)

 

3)   많은 사람중 나를 택해 사명주심에 감사 (딤전 1:12)

Thank you for choosing me out of many people and giving me a mission

12나를 능하게 하신 그리스도 예수 우리 주께 내가 감사함은 나를 충성되이 여겨 내게 직분을 맡기심이니 (딤전 1:12)

12I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. (1Timoth 1:12)

 

2.   은밀한 충성 It’s  secret loyalty

 

1)   은밀한 중에 보시는 하나님 앞에서 충성 (마6:4)

Loyalty before God who sees in secret

4네 구제함이 은밀하게 하라 은밀한 중에 보시는 너의 아버지가 갚으시리라

4so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. (Matthew 6:4)

 

2)   은밀한 중에 보시는 주예수님에 충성 (요1:48)

Loyalty to the Lord Jesus who sees in secret

48나다나엘이 가로되 어떻게 나를 아시나이까 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 빌립이 너를 부르기 전에 네가 무화과나무 아래 있을 때에 보았노라

48“How do you know me?” Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, “I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.” (John 1:48)

 

3)   사람들이 보든지 않보든지 개으치 않고 충성(빌 1:12-30)

Loyalty regardless of whether people see it or not

12형제들아 나의 당한 일이 도리어 복음의 진보가 된 줄을 너희가 알기를 원하노라

15어떤이들은 투기와 분쟁으로, 어떤이들은 착한 뜻으로 그리스도를 전파하나니 16이들은 내가 복음을 변명하기 위하여 세우심을 받은줄 알고 사랑으로 하나 17저들은 나의 매임에 괴로움을 더하게 할 줄로 생각하여 순전치 못하게 다툼으로 그리스도를 전파하느니라

Paul’s Chains Advance the Gospel (Philippians 1:12-30)

12Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel.

15It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. 16The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. 17The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains.

 

3.   작은 일에 충성 It’s Loyalty in small things

 

1)   큰일만 하려하여 명예욕을 가지지 말고(민16:1-40

Don't have a lust for honor just to do big things

고라와 다단과 아비람과 온 이 당을 짓고(1) 2이스라엘 자손 총회에 택함을 받은 자 곧 회중에 유명한 어떤 족장 이백 오십인과 함께 일어나서 모세를 거스리니라 3그들이 모여서 모세와 아론을 거스려 그들에게 이르되 너희가 분수에 지나도다 회중이 다 각각 거룩하고 여호와께서도 그들 중에 계시거늘 너희가 어찌하여 여호와의 총회 위에 스스로 높이느뇨

Korah of Levi, Dathan and Abiram and On(1), 2and rose up against Moses. With them were 250 Israelite men, well-known community leaders who had been appointed members of the council.

 3They came as a group to oppose Moses and Aaron and said to them, “You have gone too far! The whole community is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is with them. Why then do you set yourselves above the Lord’s assembly?” (Numbers 16:1-30)

 

2)   작은 일을 무시하는 경솔함을 버리고 (행1:25

Let go of the frivolity of ignoring the little things

25봉사와 및 사도의 직무를 대신할 자를 보이시옵소서 유다는 이를 버리옵고 제 곳으로 갔나이다 하고

25to take over this apostolic ministry, which Judas left to go where he belongs.” (Acts 1:25)

 

3)   현재 맡은 직책을 중히 여겨 충성하자(갈 2:8-10)

Be loyal to your current position

8베드로에게 역사하사 그를 할례자의 사도로 삼으신 이가 또한 내게 역사하사 나를 이방인에게 사도로 삼으셨느니라 9또 내게 주신 은혜를 알므로 기둥 같이 여기는 야고보와 게바와 요한도 나와 바나바에게 교제의 악수를 하였으니 이는 우리는 이방인에게로, 저희는 할례자에게로 가게 하려 함이라 10다만

우리에게 가난한 자들 생각하는 것을 부탁하였으니 이것을 나도 본래 힘써 행하노라

For God, who was at work in Peter as an apostle to the circumcised, was also at work in me as an apostle to the Gentiles. 9James, Cephas and John, those esteemed as pillars, gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship when they recognized the grace given to me. They agreed that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcised. 10All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I had been eager to do all along.

(Galatians 2:8-10)

 

4. 값없는 충성하라

Be free of allegiance

 

1)    주님은혜를 거져 받았으니 복음도 거저주라 (마10:8)

Since you received the grace of the Lord freely, the gospel is also free.

8병든 자를 고치며 죽은 자를 살리며 문둥이를 깨끗하게 하며 귀신을 쫓아내되 너희가 거저 받았으니 거저 주어라

8Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.( Matthew 10:8)

2)    복음전할 때 값없이 전하고 권한도 쓰지말라 (고전 9:18)

When preaching the gospel, preach freely and do not use authority.

18그런즉 내 상이 무엇이냐 내가 복음을 전할 때에 값 없이 전하고 복음으로 인하여 내게 있는 권을 다 쓰지 아니하는 이것이로라

18What then is my reward? Just this: that in preaching the gospel I may offer it free of charge, and so not make full use of my rights as a preacher of the gospel. (1Corigthians 9:18)

3)    은밀한중에 감찰하시고 갚으시는 주님(마6:3-5)

The Lord who sees and rewards in secret

3너는 구제할 때에 오른손의 하는 것을 왼손이 모르게 하여 4네 구제함이 은밀하게 하라 은밀한 중에 보시는 너의 아버지가 갚으시리라 5또 너희가 기도할 때에 외식하는 자와 같이 되지 말라 저희는 사람에게 보이려고 회당과 큰 거리 어귀에 서서 기도하기를 좋아하느니라 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 저희는 자기 상을 이미 받았느니라

3But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward

you. 5“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full Matthew 6:3-5)

4)    현재고난과 장차받을 영광은 비교가 않된다 (롬8:18)

There is no comparison between the present suffering and the future glory.

18생각건대 현재의 고난은 장차 우리에게 나타날 영광과 족히 비교할 수 없도다

18When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side of the lake. .(Romans 8:18)

 

5. 재능대로 충성하라

Be loyal to your talents

 

1)    주님 주시는 여러모양의 은사대로 충성하라(고전 12:27-31)

Be faithful according to the various gifts the Lord gives you.

27너희는 그리스도의 몸이요 지체의 각 부분이라 28하나님이 교회 중에 몇을 세우셨으니 첫째는 사도요 둘째는 선지자요 세째는 교사요 그 다음은 능력이요 그 다음은 병 고치는 은사와 서로 돕는 것과 다스리는 것과 각종 방언을 하는 것이라 29다 사도겠느냐 다 선지자겠느냐 다 교사겠느냐 다 능력을 행하는 자겠느냐 30다 병 고치는 은사를 가진 자겠느냐 다 방언을 말하는 자겠느냐 다 통역하는 자겠느냐 31너희는 더욱 큰 은사를 사모하라 내가 또한 제일 좋은 길을 너희에게 보이리라

27Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 28And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. 29Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret? 31Now eagerly desire the greater gifts..And yet I will show you the most excellent way.

2)    내게 주시는 역량과 직무대로 충성하라 (갈 2:8)

Be faithful according to the capabilities and duties given to you.

8베드로에게 역사하사 그를 할례자의 사도로 삼으신 이가 또한 내게 역사하사 나를 이방인에게 사도로 삼으셨느니라

8For God, who was at work in Peter as an apostle to the circumcised, was also at work in me as an apostle to the Gentiles. (Galatians 2:8)

3)    직접역사하거나 간접으로 역사하거나 충성하라 (마8:15)

Work directly, work indirectly, or be loyal

15그의 손을 만지시니 열병이 떠나가고 여인이 일어나서 예수께 수종들더라(베드로 장모의 열병)

14When Jesus came into Peter’s house, he saw Peter’s mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. 15He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him.(Matthew 8:15)

 

6. 끝까지 충성하라

Be loyal to the end

 

1)    예수님을 사랑하는 마음 으로 끝까지 충성하라(엡6:24

Be faithful to the end with love for Jesus

우리주 예수 그리스도를 변함 없이 사랑하는 모든 자에게 은혜가 있을 찌어다.

24Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love. (Ephesians 6:24)

2)    한평생을 한결같이 직무에 충성릉 다하라 (딤후 4:8)

Be faithful to your job for the rest of your life

8이제 후로는 나를 위하여 의의 면류관이 예비되었으므로 주 곧 의로우신 재판장이 그 날에 내게 주실 것이니 내게만 아니라 주의 나타나심을 사모하는 모든 자에게니라

8Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

(2Timothy4:8)

3)    우리주님이 오시어서 눈물을 씻기실때까지 충성하라 (계7:17)

Be faithful until our Lord comes and wipes away our tears.

17이는 보좌 가운데 계신 어린 양이 저희의 목자가 되사 생명수 샘으로 인도하시고 하나님께서 저희 눈에서 모든 눈물을 씻어 주실 것임이러라

17For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; ‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’ ‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’(Revelation 7:17)

 

7. 죽도록 충성하라.

Be loyal to death.

1)    전도사명을 마치려고 나의 생명 바쳐가면서 (행20:21)

As I dedicate my life to finish my evangelism mission

21유대인과 헬라인들에게 하나님께 대한 회개와 우리 주 예수 그리스도께 대한 믿음을 증거한 것이라

21 I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus. (Acts 20:21)

2)    환경과 명예와 생사고락을 초월하여 충성하라(빌1:12-20)

Be loyal beyond circumstances, honor, life and death

12형제들아 나의 당한 일이 도리어 복음의 진보가 된 줄을 너희가 알기를 원하노라

13이러므로 나의 매임이 그리스도 안에서 온 시위대 안과 기타 모든 사람에게 나타났으니 14형제 중 다수가 나의 매임을 인하여 주 안에서 신뢰하므로 겁 없이 하나님의 말씀을 더욱 담대히 말하게 되었느니라 15어떤이들은 투기와 분쟁으로, 어떤이들은 착한 뜻으로 그리스도를 전파하나니 16이들은 내가 복음을 변명하기 위하여 세우심을 받은줄 알고 사랑으로 하나 17저들은 나의 매임에 괴로움을 더하게 할 줄로 생각하여 순전치 못하게 다툼으로 그리스도를 전파하느니라 18그러면 무엇이뇨 외모로 하나 참으로 하나 무슨 방도로 하든지 전파되는 것은 그리스도니 이로써 내가 기뻐하고 또한 기뻐하리라 19이것이 너희 간구와 예수 그리스도의 성령의 도우심으로 내 구원에 이르게 할줄 아는고로 20나의 간절한 기대와 소망을 따라 아무 일에든지 부끄럽지 아니하고 오직 전과 같이 이제도 온전히 담대하여 살든지 죽든지 내 몸에서 그리스도가 존귀히 되게 하려 하나니

12Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel. 13As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ. 14And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.15It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. 16The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. 17The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. 18But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.

Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, 19for I know that through your prayers and God’s provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance. 20I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. (Philippians 1:12-20)

 

3)    결박과 죽음 각오하며 사명위해 끝까지 충성하라(행21:13)

Be prepared for bondage and death, and be faithful to the end for your mission

13바울이 대답하되 너희가 어찌하여 울어 내 마음을 상하게 하느냐 나는 주 예수의 이름을 위하여 결박 받을 뿐아니라 예루살렘에서 죽을 것도 각오하였노라 하니

13Then Paul answered, “Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.” Acts 21:13)

4)    순교하는 그순간까지 충성하며 순교하자 (행 7:51-60)

Let's be faithful and martyr until the moment of martyrdom

51“You stiff-necked people! Your hearts and ears are still uncircumcised. You are just like your ancestors: You always resist the Holy Spirit! 52Was there ever a prophet your ancestors did not persecute? They even killed those who predicted the coming of the Righteous One. And now you have betrayed and murdered him— 53you who have received the law that was given through angels but have not obeyed it.”
