What must we prepare to be ready for advent - the second coming of our Lord?

“Dear brothers and sisters, be patient as you wait for the Lord’s return. Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. They eagerly look for the valuable harvest to ripen. You, too, must be patient. Take courage, for the coming of the Lord is near. Don’t grumble about each other, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. For look—the Judge is standing at the door!” James‬ ‭5:7-9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Like a marathon runner training, we must build endurance to keep believing and serving until His second coming

What is advent?
     •“I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve. After that, he was seen by more than 500 of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died. Then he was seen by James and later by all the apostles. Last of all, as though I had been born at the wrong time, I also saw him.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:3-8‬ ‭NLT
     •second coming will be to judge the world
     •*‬‬“so also Christ was offered once for all time as a sacrifice to take away
       the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but
       to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him.” Hebrews‬ ‭9:28‬ ‭NLT‬‬
     •to prepare a place for you - John 1:3
     •bring God's firstborn in the world - Hebrews 1:6
     •Jesus is coming soon - Revelation 22:12

The purpose of advent
     •to glorify God
     •to reward the faithful
     •to judge all and to call the righteous

What must we do in prep for advent
     •we need to learn to be patient
     •we need to be patient until His coming
     •we need to stand firm in our faith ◦learn to welcome and persevere the
      suffering
         ◦learn from suffering

     •do not grumble against and blame one other

As we await the Lord's return, we must persevere and be patient, follow the Word, and love one another!
