Troubleshooting
Alfalfa is a simple to cultivate plant that will begin to be able to germinate in between 2 and 6 days. If seeds do not germinate within this time frame there are a few possibilities of what could have gone wrong:
Too dry Seeds require water in order to develop. Alfalfa seeds absorb about their own weight in water before sprouting, which makes them appear as if they've gotten bigger. Seeds that aren't dry enough are not able to grow. To make sure the seeds don't sink in water, add some more onto your plate. You could also soak your seeds overnight, but make sure you drain them and rinse them with fresh water prior to spreading them out on the paper towel.
Too moist: Seeds that are too moist could cause their roots and their shoots to rot before they can develop. It's also possible that mould may begin to grow on the seeds. It's okay for the paper towel to be wet, but the seeds shouldn't be floating in water. Every time you mist or شركات البذور الزراعية فى مصر water the seeds, rinse off the excess water.
Too cold or hot: The best temperature for alfalfa to grow is 20-25 degrees Celsius. If you're planting your seeds inside in winter, you should place them in a warm area. If you're cultivating your seeds in very warm temperatures, it is possible to water the seeds more frequently since they'll dry out more quickly.
