신명기 28:1-6
Deuteronomy 28:1-6 (NIV)
28 If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. 2 All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God:
3 You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.
4 The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock—the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.
5 Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed.
6 You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.


Your greatest value is a blessed life
There is nobody that doesn’t like to be blessed. Fundamentally man loves gaining and adding to his possessions. The Israelites left Egypt in order to gain the promised land followed Moses. Simply put, everyone wants to receive blessings but there are far more people living without receiving these blessings.

What is the reason for this?
This is because most people want the blessings without lifting a finger and not putting any effort or diligence into their lives. This is the exact reason why people try to gain material wealth with borrowed money and buy lottery tickets to dream of winning free money. For these people, true happiness is out of reach and unattainable. Only when you do the blessed work can you gain joy and happiness. The scriptures today show us the explanation of blessings for the Israelites from God.

Moses explains the requirements before describing the details of the blessings. In order to receive the great blessings, they must follow the obey the conditions specified. There are many people that do work but do not follow the instructions given by God and thus do work in vain. Through today’s scriptures, let’s find out what exactly you need to do that will allow you to receive the true blessings from God.

1.The first condition to receiving God’s blessing is to ‘hear’.
     1) To hear the word of God is the first condition to happiness and joy
•        You have the blessing of eternal life(John 5:24)(Psalm 119:105)
"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.(5:24)
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” Psalm 119:105)
          • The land of Canaan symbolizes heaven.
          • What is the blessing we seek?
          •  People seek happiness, but why reject God's Word?
     2) Those that hear the word of God are those that have acknowledged God
         as their one and only God.(Rome 10:9,10)
         9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your
         heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  
         10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with
         your mouth that you confess and are saved.(10L9,10)
          • The word was God*(John1:1)
          • Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him
            before my Fath  
2.The second condition is to allow the word to translate into action.
     1) Being  iligent and being slow (taking our time) needs to be distinguished.
          a) Things that you must be diligent with
          b) You must be diligent with hearing the word
             No matter what anyone says to you, you must listen. This doesn’t mean
             to lending your ears without distinguishing.
          c) Humility
             Without humility, you cannot truly listen to others. You must stand
             before God with humility and a humble heart.

     2) Things we must do slowly
          a) You must take our time in determining the meaning behind words
          b) You must be slow to anger.

3.What is the blessing you will receive?
     1)  Blessing on earth.
         •  You will be lifted above other nations(Deut 28:1)
         •  You will be blessed in all circumstances(28:3)
         • You will reap much reward/bear much fruit(28:5)
         •  Receive blessing when you go in and when you go out.

     2) Blessing in Heaven
         •  The blessings in heaven do not expire
         • Right to become child of God(Right to become Child of God(John1:12)
         • Right to call God our father(Rome 8:15)
         • To be with God(2Coringthian5:1)
         • Receive eternal life(John 5:24;6:40
         • Possess the Kingdom of Heaven(Rev5:11)

Application

1. Are you living a blessed life?      
     If you are hearing the word of God and obeying the word of God, then you
     are living a blessed life.
              
2. It is different from the blessings in this world which will wither away and
     dissipate but the blessing you will receive are eternal and will never expire.

3.Those that obey the word of God?                                                                  
     No matter where you go and what you do, you will receive God’s blessing.
     What is the blessing you have received now? . Are you just focused and
     wishing for the blessings of this world?

4.In this pursuit, we will sometimes run into hardships and obstacles.
      Corinthians 고전 10:12,13) But this is only so that from time to time, God
     wants you to remember that he is right next to you and with you. Almighty
     God with his powerful hand is holding on to you and providing his wisdom
     and guidance always.
