Watching seeds germinate is excellent activity for children especially when they are sprouting quickly. Alfalfa is an easy-to-grow plant that can be sprouting within one week. For a chance to observe the seeds grow in the soil, sprinkle a few alfalfa seeds onto a piece of damp paper towel.

What you'll need:
a packet of alfalfa seeds (about 1.5g)
A small bowl or small plate
Three pieces of paper towel
A spray mister or a small water Jug


How to Grow:
Make sure to wet three pieces of paper towels, then lay them on top each other flat on a platter.
Then, drain the water out of the plate. The paper towel must be moist, اسعار بذور البرسيم however the seeds must not be floating in the water.
Sprinkle the seeds thickly onto the towel.

Troubleshooting
Alfalfa seeds are simple to grow and should be able to germinate in just 2-6 days. Here are some things to keep an eye on should your seeds not sprout within this period.

Too dry: Seeds need water to grow. Alfalfa seeds absorb about their own weight of water before getting germinated, making them appear like they are swollen. If the seeds you have are too dry, they will not germinate. Make sure to add more water to your plate to make sure that the seeds are damp but not floating in water. You can also soak the seeds for a few hours; however, ensure that you drain and wash them in fresh water prior to spreading them out on the towel.

Too moist: Seeds that are too moist could cause their roots and sprouts to rot before they can develop. It is also possible that mould may begin to grow around the seeds. Although it's fine for the paper towel as well as the seeds to remain damp but they shouldn't be submerged in water. The excess water should be removed from the plate every time you mist or water your seeds.

Too cold or hot Alfalfa grows best in temperatures between 20 and 25°C. If you're growing your seed indoors in winter, set them in a cool area. You may need to be more frequent in watering your seeds when you plant them in temperatures that are extremely hot. They will dry out more quickly.
