Matthew마태복음 25:14-23
14또 어떤 사람이 타국에 갈제 그 종들을 불러 자기 소유를 맡김과 같으니15각각 그 재능대로 하나에게는 금 다섯 달란트를, 하나에게는 두 달란트를, 하나에게는 한 달란트를 주고 떠났더니 16다섯 달란트 받은 자는 바로 가서 그것으로 장사하여 또 다섯 달란트를 남기고 17두 달란트 받은 자도 그같이 하여 또 두 달란트를 남겼으되 18한 달란트 받은 자는 가서 땅을 파고 그 주인의 돈을 감추어 두었더니 19오랜 후에 그 종들의 주인이 돌아와 저희와 회계할쌔 20다섯 달란트 받았던 자는 다섯 달란트를 더 가지고 와서 가로되 주여 내게 다섯 달란트를 주셨는데 보소서 내가 또 다섯 달란트를 남겼나이다 21그 주인이 이르되 잘 하였도다 착하고 충성된 종아 네가 작은 일에 충성하였으매 내가 많은 것으로 네게 맡기리니 네 주인의 즐거움에 참예할찌어다 하고 22두 달란트 받았던 자도 와서 가로되 주여 내게 두 달란트를 주셨는데 보소서 내가 또 두 달란트를 남겼나이다 23그 주인이 이르되 잘 하였도다 착하고 충성된 종아 네가 작은 일에 충성하였으매 내가 많은 것으로 네게 맡기리니 네 주인의 즐거움에 참예 할찌어다 할찌니라.
14“Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. 15To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. 16The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more. 17So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more. 18But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.19“After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. 20The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’21“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ 22“The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’ 23“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! I. 세상의 성공 판단 기준은 무엇인가?

얼마나 다른 사람보다 명예와 권력을 가졌는가?
*오 헨리(O Henry): <마지막 잎새(the last leaf)>
아래층에 사는 원로 화가인 베어먼(Behrman)은 언젠가는 걸작을 그리겠다고 장담하면서도, 오랫동안 어떠한 그림도 남기지 않았으며 술을 마시고는 남을 비웃으면서 살았다. 존시는 잎이 떨어지면 죽는다는 소문을 들었지만 베어먼은 터무니없는 이야기라고 일축했다.
그날 밤 밤새 심한 비바람이 불면서 아침에는 담쟁이덩굴잎은 마지막 한 장만 남았다. 그 다음날 밤에도 심한 비바람이 몰아쳤지만 마지막 한 장만 남은 잎이 담장에 남아있는 것을 본 존시는 기력을 되찾게 된다.
마지막 남은 잎은 베어먼이 담장에 붓으로 정밀하게 그린 것이었다. 사다리를 타고 차가운 비바람을 맞고 밤을 새며 벽에 잎을 그린 베어먼은 2일 만에 폐렴으로 죽고 만다. 이 사실을 안 존시의 동료인 수(Sue)는 마지막 잎새가 베어먼이 생전에 언젠가 그리겠다고 말했던 걸작이라고 평가했다.

마26:31 “오늘 밤에 다 나를 버리리라”

마26:72 “베드로가 맹세하고 또 부인하여 가로되 내가 그 사람 (예수님)을 알지 못 하노라”

II. 하나님께서 보시는 성공의 기준은 무엇인가?

행13:22 “내(God) 마음에 드는 사람이라(행13:22)”
22After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.
예수님: (Jesus Christ)
막1:11 “하늘에서 소리가 나기를 너는 내 사랑하는 아들이라. 내(God)가 너를 기뻐하노라”
11And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” (Mark 1:11)
충성된 종들: (Faithful Servant)
마25:23 “착하고 충성된 종아...네 주인의 즐거움에 참예할 지어다.”
23“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ (Matthew 25:23)
하나님은 언제 기뻐하시는가?
When is God pleased and happy?
1. 예수의 형상을 닮아 갈 때입니다.
When we follow in the example and image of Jesus Christ
1) 우리를 선택하신 하나님의 뜻은?
The will of our God who has chosen us
롬8:29 “하나님이 미리 아신 자들로 또한 그 아들의 형상을 본받게 하기 위해서 미리 정하셨으니”
29For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. (Romans 8:29)
2) 예수님의 형상은 무엇인가?
What is Jesus’ example and image?
벧후1:4-6 “신의 성품에 참여하는 자가 되게 하려 하셨으니 이러므로 너희가 더욱 힘써 너희의 믿음에 덕을, 덕에 지식을, 지식에 절제를, 절제에 인내를, 인내에 경건을, 경건에 형제 우애를, 형제우애에 사랑을 공급하라”
4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. 5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; (2Peter 1:4-6)
3) 하나님의 수고입니다.
God’s commission
신명기8:2 “네 하나님 여호와께서 이 사십년 동안에 너를 광야의 길을 걷게 하신 것을 기억하라. 이는 너를 낮추시며, 너를 시험하사 네 마음이 어떠한지 그 명령을 지키는지 아니 지키는지 알려 하심 이라”
2 Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. (Deuteronomy 8:2)
2. 주어진 일에 최선을 다 할 때입니다.
When we put our full effort into the task that has been given to us
마25:21 “그 주인이 이르되 잘 하였도다 착하고 충성된 종아 네가 작은 일에 충성하였으매 내가 많은 것으로 네게 맡기리니 네 주인의 즐거움에 참 예할지어다”
21“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ (Matthew 25:21)
마25:30 “이 무익한 종을 바깥 어두운 데로 내어 쫓으라 거기서 슬피 울며 이를 갊이 있으리라 하시니라”
30 And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

3. 내가 존재함으로 이웃에게 기쁨이 되었을 때입니다.
When we are able to give joy to others just by the way we are.

Success is when you can impact at least a single person’s life to become joyful
