Recovery of True Love
“When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.” Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.” The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.” John 21:15-17 NIV
Jesus Christ showed specifically the practice of how to start love - John 21
•love starts with making eye contact
•love starts with starting a conversation
•love starts with fulfilling a need
•When you live according to the Word of God, and seek the Kingdom of
God, all is fulfilled
Love is expressed by being courteous, being respectful
•having service is to express our respect and love for the Lord
•we present the best of ourselves
Love gives chance… Opportunities
•Jesus gave Peter opportunity to confess his love three times even after he
had forsaken Him during crucifixion
•“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast,
it is not proud.” Corinthians 13:4 NIV
•we will often be hurt and have heartache when we are giving opportunity,
but we must be patient and forgive so we have the opportunity to recover
love
Love matches and even descends to the level of others
•Jesus came to this earth to save us
•Jesus presented Himself after resurrection to his disciples
Love is to be present and to be an example
•“Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and
went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your
hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not
want to go.”” John 21:18 NIV
•“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you;
and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and
Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”” Acts 1:8 NIV
•we inadvertently serve as examples to those around us… We must be
aware of who and what we are reflecting
•walk in righteousness
•feed His sheep, spread the Gospel
•follow the truth
Reflect on your life and pray to the Lord in repentance and request for the recovery of true love, to be able to follow His truth and serve His purpose
