Are you living a life of servitude?

“When the ten heard about this, they became indignant with James and John. Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”” Mark 10:41-45 NIV

Jesus set Himself to be the example of ultimate servitude, as He came into this world to serve (Mark 10:45)
•Jesus was born in the humble manger, lowest of places (Luke 2:7)
•Jesus washed the feet of His disciples (John 13:5)
•Jesus came to be the ransom and sacrifice for our salvation
       (1 Peter 1:18,19)

In order to live a life of servitude, we must have the qualities of a faithful servant - trust that your reward is ultimately with God rather than to seek it amongst others
•We must be diligent (Matthew 25:14-30) •Following the orders of the Lord
     •Consistent and persistent
     •not lazy
•We must be obedient •Humble yourself
     •serve others
     •do not be self righteous
•We must be willing to do the things that most people are unwilling to do
•Not just doing works for show
•doing what must be done even if no one else wants to do the job
•We must do beyond what is expected of us
     •Proactively taking action
     •going above and beyond

If we live a life of serving others, our Lord acknowledges us
•He will make us great (Mark 10:43)
•The ability to serve is also a privilege… As if you are unable you have no
choice but to be served, as you are incapable
•We will be allowed to sit at the Lord's seat (2 Timothy 4:7,8)
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8 NIV

Application
•Why do we want to be served by others?
•Because we lack confidence in our identity as the chosen heir of almighty
      God
•it's a feeble effort to try to be reassured by those around us instead of
      recognizing the truth  in God
•When we respect and serve those around us we are demonstrating the love
of God and  spreading  the gospel by action
•For those who have received Jesus Christ as their savior, we need no
recognition from the world as we are confirmed salvation
     1. Glorify God and create peace wherever you go
     2. Declare your way into the world of eternal life
     3. Welcome the Lord into our lives
     4. Live our lives with fervor and diligence
     5. Follow Jesus Christ's example and live a life of serving others

Jesus Christ was the most humble and loving example whom we should strive to emulate in every day of our lives to truly demonstrate Christianity. Serve and love one another to glorify God!
