Let us love with actions and in truth

Do not be surprised, my brothers and sisters, if the world hates you. We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death. Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him. This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence: If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him. And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us. (‭1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭13-24‬ NIV)

Are you actively practicing brotherly love?
•Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
       (‭1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬ NIV)
     • We must distance ourselves from hatred
          •  whoever hates is a murderer
          • You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not
murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell
you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to
judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘ Raca,’ is
answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in
danger of the fire of hell. (‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭21-22‬ NIV)

     • We must love with action and in truth
           • We need to show love in every aspect of our lives
           • We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love
            each other.
Anyone who does not love remains in death. (‭1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭14‬ NIV)
             • Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions
             and in truth.  (‭1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭18‬ NIV)

     • We must be dedicated to the act of love
          •Love until the end
•It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had
come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his
own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. (‭John‬ ‭13‬:‭1‬ NIV)

How are you currently showing brotherly love?
•Jesus was a great teacher that set example of words and actions being
        consistent
•He taught about what love really is
•He lived a life of love

•We must follow Jesus's example of actions and truth of love being
       consistent with intent
•Those who do not have such consistency does not love God
•Not living according to the word just because no one's watching
•Only living in self serving way and just for show

Why do you have to practice brotherly love?
•To live a holy life will allow us salvation to stand before God The one who
       has clean hands
and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god.
       (‭Psalm‬ ‭24‬:‭4‬ NIV)
•To gain confidence in our faith by entrusting ourselves to Jesus Christ For
       God did not send
his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through
        him.(‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬ NIV)
•To gain confidence in our faith when we love our brothers and sisters And
       the second is like
it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ (‭Matthew‬ ‭22‬:‭39‬ NIV)
•To have our prayers readily answers by God
•To have the Holy Spirit with us when we are confident in our faith

In this life, believers will face hatred. Do not be discouraged and afraid of the world. Defeat hatred with love. Hold onto the seed of love and act according to that love and in truth. Show by action to spread the Gospel and that God is Good! God is Love! Love one another, not just by words but in action and truth.
