The Good Fight of the Faith
But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue
righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.
Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to
which you were called and about which you made the good
confession in the presence of many witnesses. I charge you in the
presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus,
who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good
confession, to keep the commandment unstained and free from
reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which he will
display at the proper time—he who is the blessed and only
Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has
immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has
ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.
As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty,
nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who
richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to
be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus
storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the
future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life. O
Timothy, guard the deposit entrusted to you. Avoid the irreverent
babble and contradictions of what is falsely called “knowledge,” for
by professing it some have swerved from the faith. Grace be with
you. ( 1 Timothy 6 : 11-21 ESV)

what a Christian needs to grow and develop to prepare for the Good Fight
       1.  the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Gal 5:22)
       2.  the fruit of Light (Eph 5:9)
       3.  divine nature (2 Peter 1:3-7)
       4.  armor of God (Eph 6:12-18)

A.  privilege of person of God

     1.  privilege of God's person - Old Testament

         2) we were given the tools necessary to evangelize and spread the gospel

B.  duties of a person of God

     1.  must fulfill daily duties of life
     2.  must be humble and know we have been called for God's purpose
     3.  must obey His commandments

C.  we must live according to God's word

     1.  remember the life God allowed us
     2.  the confession of Jesus should be our confession - that He is the
Son of the living God and through Him we have been saved
         (Luke 23:3)
     3.  must believe that He is our Lord and his resurrection and that he
         was raised to Heaven

D.  we must believe in and prepare for the second coming of Jesus Christ

     1.  we live according to God's commandments
     2.  we can prioritize the hope of eternal life with God over riches,
          status, materialistic desires
     3.  know second coming of Jesus is the proof of God's promise

E.  live a life looking towards God

     1.  do not put hope in things of this world
     2.  we must serve in the community and in serving in and/or
          supporting missionaries
     3.  do not put hope in material possessions
     4.  put your heart in God
     5.  be rich in giving
     6.  be happy in sharing
     7.  be compassionate and empathetic of those around you, willing
to share ourselves and be self identifying with others
     8.  prepare a firm foundation for serving and flourishing in fulfilling
         the Lord's purpose

Know that it is by God that we are here today and that to fulfill
His purpose is why we have all tools and resources around us, to
spread His love, to share the Good News.
