Let's do good together
A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, “Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?” Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things? Which is easier: to say to this paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’? But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the man, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!” (‭Mark‬ ‭2‬:‭1-12‬ NIV)
How can we work together to do good?
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭28‬ NIV)
•difference between those of the world and those of Christ •Those of the world lives prioritizing their own desires, they are constantly suffering from greed and frustrations
•those of Christ live for His purpose and prioritize God's will, they have power in God
Our reality
•We are not perfect and sin causes suffering and illness. Through Jesus Christ, we can receive forgiveness of our sins and free us from our suffering and alleviate illness.
human beings need help of others… We need to help each other
Our duty
•When there is those in need, we must do everything we can to help each other •in Mark, as the four men tried to bring the paralyzed man to Jesus, they had to break through the roof and struggle though the crowd to get him there. Likewise, our journey will have its difficulties and challenges as we try to get closer to God… We must support each other through the difficult times as we strive to get closer to God.
•We must have faith and walk in the way of the faith, trusting that Jesus is the way to God.
Our salvation
•they trusted that by lowering the bed to Jesus, the man will be healed. We must have this faith in Jesus… That when we are in Him, we are saved.
•Jesus saw the faith of those men who were helping the paralyzed man and healed him… Likewise, trust and have faith that all is possible in Jesus and He will see your faith and answer your prayers.
•What is God's work? We shouldn't look to do God's work in a calculating way because God makes the impossible possible. He creates something from nothing. He wants to see our pure heart and this unwavering faith in each of us.
•Jesus first said “ your son has been forgiven” - He always showed that it is by their faith that salvation has been received, more important than any physical healing… But also showed that physical healing and blessings are only possible with spiritual healing.
Those who support those in need
•there is combined faith praying and working and supporting together.
•it's a combined faith that heals any disabilities. Just as there are difficulties and disabilities in our spiritual journey, we must help each other to walk closer to God.
As we work together to do good in God and have faith to entrust yourself in Jesus Christ and be freed. Find solace in the Lord. The only one that can resolve any and all problems/challenges we may have is Jesus. Thus we must steadfastly hold on to him, entrust ourselves to him, believe in him and have faith in his abilities (Mark 15:27). There is no other path…only Jesus Christ, our Lord. Let’s have faith in him.
