Divine Nature

Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours: Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. (‭2 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭1-7‬ NIV)

What is Divine Nature?
•God is love, holy, righteous, Omnicient, and omnipotent (John 4:24; 1 John 4:8; John 1:5; 1 Peter 1:15; Heb 12:9-10)
•God is light (Matt 5:14; Eph 5:8)
•God is holy (Heb 12:9-10)
•God is righteous (Rom 4:25; 2 Cor 5:21)

How can we participate in divine nature?
•we must be born again in God (2 Peter 1:3)
•we must do our best to escape the corruption of this world (2 Peter 1:4)

We must have precious faith
•where are the risks of crisis? •Greatest challenge is in disbelief

•How can we belong to God? •Trust in God
•receive the strength through the righteousness of God and Lord Jesus Christ
•know there is no righteous person, that only God is righteous and can make us righteous… Not due to our own woks but by the grace of God (Rom 3:10-12)
•Eph 2:1-6
•it is a gift of God For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— (‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭8‬ NIV)
•It is through precious faith that one will receive overflowing grace and peace

How did we receive life?
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. (‭2 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭3-4‬ NIV)
•The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord
•God paid the ultimate price to give us life (Gal 2:20) •we too should be willing to give all and lay before Him
•we should trust in Him wholeheartedly and surrender to Him

•God has promised us the eternal life

What we need to do in order to assure spiritual maturity
•grow our faith •Believing in, trusting and proclaiming Jesus Christ is the son of God
•Love God with all your heart, mind, body, and soul
•Love your neighbors as yourselves
•knowledge and wisdom in God's words
•perseverance and self control to live according to God's will

We have been given the gift of divine nature thanks to God's sacrifice in Jesus Christ. The reason we are living today is thanks to God's grace, a precious gift from God. God adopted us as His children, that all who believe in Him will be saved!
