Ephesians 1:4-11New International Version (NIV)
4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he[a] predestined us for adoption to sonship[b]through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, 9 he[c] made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.
11 In him we were also chosen,[d] having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,

As we live in this world, we have opportunities to choose who we meet and we also are chosen by others. This selection is always premised or leads to a reason and purpose.
In today’s scripture, this selection and choosing is directed not at the general public but is an intimate selection by God’s grace and has a definite and defined reason.

The reason we have been chosen by God

God has made us holy and from the beginning he determined that he will be glorified by blessing us with the opportunity to become his children.

He chose us so that we can become holy

– God is holy

– We as saints must be holy

He chose us so that he can bless us

      Misconception about blessings

The thought about blessings being material things

       Physical blessings
There is overdependence upon the idea that when we are saved and have faith in God, all of our ailments and illnesses will disappear. This has led to many a prayer gatherings where people invest their money and time in order to receive healing of their ailments and illnesses. Of course God has the power to heal these things. However, even to Paul, who prayed for healing of his ailment did not receive it from God so we also must not think this as such a matter of fact blessing.

Pure blessing

– Blessing of salvation

The blessing God gave to us IS Christ Jesus, the Son of the Living God. (Ephesians 1:4,5)
Revelation 21:4New International Version (NIV)
4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’[a] or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” This is the result of the blessing of salvation. This is why we persevere through the physical suffering and lacking of material things in this world. Rather we rejoice in the pure blessing in Heaven and in the salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

d)        그리스도의 평안입니다.(앱1:6) – Peace in Christ (Ephesians 1:6)
Ephesians 1:6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
It found the true purpose of life through the spiritual blessings of this was prior to the loss of human life and the true purpose of wandering and troubled skies, and enjoy the show that joy and peace in life.
Truly enjoys the blessing of heaven is rejoicing in the real value in this materialistic pleasures, but will enjoy the peace in Christ.
John 14:27 (NIV)
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

The Result of God choosing us

We have been made holy and without fault

The reason God chose us is so that by the love of our Lord Jesus Christ, we may become holy and blameless.  It is to separate us from those things that are of this world  including ethics and religions of this world and to dedicate us only to our God. We may always wonder how we can separate ourselves from these things while we live in this world and are immersed in this world.
However, Paul says clearly that by the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, which was spilled upon the cross, our sins have been forgiven and our inadequacies have been wiped away and we have been made complete and whole so that we may become saints living for the glory of our God.

By the grace of God, we have received as a gift, the opportunity to
      participate in His glory

God has chosen us and by his grace, we praise God who has saved us. God has given us this as a gift. We have not earned it. As we believe in Christ Jesus,
and are saved, we have received this already; it is not something that we will receive in the future, we have already received salvation. Thus, even though we may currently live in this world, as those that have already been saved, we must glorify God and thank Him with praise for his grace.

We have become those under God’s dominion
In the scripture, we have become those under God’s dominion. Just as Israel was brought out from the slavery under Egypt and as they entered the promised land each was given a task but all were still under God’s dominion. This blessing is given unto us and all of our future generations as well.
This is why Paul used this word. If we observe the reasons God chose us,

First, it is to show that those that are saved belong to God.

Second, it is to show that saints and children of God reflect God’s glory, freedom, love, peace and joy.

Application
Let us thank God for his call and choosing us to partake in the task at hand which is under His dominion.

Let’s not live with shame in the fact that we are children of God.

No matter what situation we may be in, let’s thank God and Glorify Him and not forget that God accepted us as we are and he protects us always.
