        우리는 씨앗이 땅에 떨어져 죽지 않으면 새로운 생명이 생겨날 수 없다는 자연의 이치를 압니다. 한알의 밀알이 땅에 떨어져 죽어가는 그 순간 거기에서는 더 많은 생명의 태동이 있게 됩니다.(고전15:36,37) 땅에 심겨진 씨앗 속에는 죽음과 삶이 함께 있어 필연적으로 연결되고 있다고 할 수 있습니다. We know the law of nature that without the seed falling and dying, there can’t be new life. The moment the seed falls and dies, in that place, many more life will sprout up. (1 Corinthians 15:36,37). There is a inextricable bond between death and life within that seed.
        이러한 죽음과 삶의 원리가 우리 성도들 안에서도 작용하고 있다는 사실을 알아야 합니다.
그리스도를 통해 성도가 되는 과정 속에서 우리는 모두 죽음에서 살아나는 체험을 하는 자들입니다.
그리스도께서 십자가와 죽음을 통해 영원한 생명으로 부활을 이루신 것처럼, 우리 성도들 역시 믿음으로서 그리스도의 십자가 죽음에 동참하게 되고 그리스도의 영광의 부활에 동참하게 됩니다. 그렇다면 성도가 그리스도와 함께 체험하는 죽음과 삶은 무엇일까요? We must acknowledge that this death and life also exists within the Saints. Through Christ, we have experienced this death and being reborn. Through the cross and death, Jesus resurrected to eternal life and we too, through faith, participate in his death and also in his resurrection. Then what is this experience of death and life that we go through with Jesus Christ?

1.        죄에 대하여 죽고 의에 대하여 살았습니다.
We die to sin and live for righteousness
1)        죄란 무엇인가?
그리스도의 교회에 있어서 죄의 관념은 도덕적인 의미에서의 죄 관념과는 달리 하나님의 뜻에 대한 배반을 말합니다.  성경에  죄를 나타내는 용어가 아주 많지만 원어에서 명사만도 23종이 죄로 번역되어 있는 것을 보게 됩니다. 이렇듯 수많은 원어중에도 구약성서에는 히브리인의 죄의 개념을 대표적으로 나타내고 있는 것으로 세가지 말이 있습니다. What is sin? We are talking about something beyond the standard of ethics but rather the state of rebelling against God’s will. Through the many types of sins, three stand out:
a.        죄라는 말에는 과녁에서 벗어나다. 실패하다. 입니다., The failure to evolve from our past
b.        불의 라는 말에는 악을 행하다, 불의를 행하다. 사악한 행위를 의미하고 의도적, 의식적인 악을 나타낸다. To go against what is right; to do evil. A deliberate and conscious evil act.
c.        허물입니다  이는 구약성경에서 가장 잘 나타내 주는 말은 허물이다.
Transgression: something that is shown quite often in the Old Testament.
허물은 하나님의 말씀을 중히 여기지 않고 사는 것이다. 하나님의 말씀을 중히 여기지 않는 것은 하나님께서  하라 하신것을 하는 것이요, 하지말라고 하는 것은 하지 않는 것입니다. To transgress is to live against God’s will and word. To not transgress against God means to do the things he tells us to do and to not do the things he tells us not to do.

2)        의란 무엇인가? What is righteousness?
의란 righteousness, Justice 로서 올바름, 표준에 대한 일치입니다.

a)        의란 하나님의 성질로서 하나님의 올바름이라든가 신성하심의 일입니다. Righteousness describes God’s disposition and his divinity

b)        하나님의 의는 하나님의 행위이시고 하나님께서 세계 중에 그 의를 확립하시는 방법입니다. 하나님께서는 그 백성을 변명하시고, 그들 위해 의를 수립하신다는 생각을 발전케 하고 있습니다. God’s righteousness is His action of establishing what is right in this world. He forgave the people and for them He established the tenet of what is the right.

c)        하나님의 의는 하나님의 행위에서 결과, 그 목적의 성취이다. His righteousness is His actions and its consequences and the achievement of His objectives.

d)        바울이 복음을 하나님의 의의 계시로서 보았습니다. Paul saw the Gospel as the revelation of God’s righteousness.

e)        예수님은 하나님께로 가시는 것이 의라고 하셨습니다.(요한복음16:10) In John 16:10New International Version (NIV) Jesus says, 10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer;

3)         그리스도께서 십자가를 지심은 우리의 모든 죄를 대속하시기    위함이었습니다.
Christ was to visit the geocentric atonement for all our sins to the cross.
그리스도께서는 십자가의 형벌을 통해 우리의 모든 죄의 문제를 해결하셨고, 그 보혈의 공로로 우리의 모든 죄를 깨끗이 씻어 주심으로써 우리를 의롭게 하셨습니다. 우리는 그러한 그리스도의 대속의 공로를 믿고 의지함으로써 죄에 대하여 죽고 의에 대하여 살아난 성도가 된 것입니다.
죄 가운데 살았던 우리를 그리스도와 함께 십자가에 못박혀 죽음으로써 죄인이었던 옛 모습을 벗어버리고 그리스도의 의를 힘입어 의인으로서 새롭게 태어났습니다. 그러므로 우리 성도들은 이제 더 이상 죄의 종으로, 죄에 얽매어 살지 않아도 됩니다. 우리는 모두 죄에 대하여 의롭게 된 자로서 주님의 의를 따라 살아가야 하는 성도입니다.(롬6:1-11)
Jesus Christ bearing the cross was so that we could receive remission of our sins. Christ, through the punishment of the cross, resolved all of the problems that came with our sins and through His blood, we were made righteous. We have faith in the atonement of our sins and thus we died to sin and were resurrected to His righteousness. By our crucifixion on the cross with our Lord Jesus Christ, we put to death our old selves and put on the righteous robe of our Lord Jesus Christ in a re-birth by the Spirit, Therefore, we are no longer slaves to sin and sin no longer has any dominion over us. As we have been made righteous through Jesus Christ, we must live as those worthy of His sacrifice (Romans 6:1-11)

2.        사망에 대하여 죽고 영생에 대하여 살았습니다.  
Die to death and live for eternal life
죽음은 생명을 잃는 일입니다. 생명이 없는 곳에죽음도 없습니다.그래서 생과 사는 불가분의 관계입니다  죽음은 인간 모두에게 닥쳐 옵니다.  이 한번 죽은 일은 사람에게 정해져 있는 일입니다(히9:27) 죽음은 어떠한 의미로도 미화되는 일 없이 모든 사람에게 공포가 되어습니다.  To die is to lose life. Where there is no life, there is no death. Thus, life and death are inextricably bound. Death will come to all those who live. It is set for all human beings. Without exception death is something that all people fear.

1)        사망이란 죄의 삯입니다.(롬6:23)  The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23)
지상의 생애가 끝난 후 하나님의 심판으로 멸망된다는 사상은 죄와 죽음의 관계입니다. “모든 사람이 죄를 지었으므로 사망이 모든 사람에게 이르렀느니라고 할하고 있습니다.(롬5:12) Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned (Romans 5:12)

2)        영생이란 예수 그리스도의 죽음에 의해서 우리가 영생을 얻습니다.
It is through Jesus Christ’s sacrifice that we have received eternal life
한 사람의 죽음, 예수 그리스도의 죽으심에 의해 마침내 정복되기에 이르렀습니다.(롬5:8,21)복음서에서 예수께서 인간에게 생명을 주시는 주이심을 말하고 있습니다.(야이로의딸막5:21-43, 나인성의 과부의 독자; 눅7:11-17, 나사로 요11:5-44) 예수님께서 말씀하시기를 죽음은 기피해야 할 것이 아니라 축복의 터로 된 아브라함의 품에 가서(눅16:22), 하나님과 교제하고(막12:26,27) 예수님과 함께 파라다이스에서 사는 것을 의미하는 경우를 말씀하셨습니다.(눅23:43),  요한사도는”나는 부활이요 생명이니(요11:25)라 표현했고, 예수님이 생명의 떡이라했습니다.

3)        예수님의 십자가의 죽음은 우리를 영원한 생명으로 인도하셨다.
The death of Jesus on the cross, He leads us to eternal life.
그리스도께서 십자가에 죽으신 것은 우리의 죄를 대속하시고 우리를 의롭게 하는 것에서 그치지 않고, 죄의 결과로 죽을 수 밖에 없던 우리를 영원한 생명으로 인도하는 위대한 역사를 이루었습니다. 우리의 죄의 삯인 사망을십자가의 죽음으로 대신 치르신 그리스도께서는 끝내 사망 권세를 이기시고 다시 부활하심으로써 우리에게 새롭고 영원한 생명의 길을 열어 놓으셨습니다. 그리스도를 주로 시인하며 구원을 소망하는 모든 성도들에게 그리스도와 연합하여 사망에 대하여 죽고 영생에 대하여 살아날 수 있도록 하신 것입니다.
주님의 구속의 은혜로 죄에 대하여 죽고 의인되 우리는 영원한 생명을 누리는 복된 성도들이 되었음을 기억해야 합니다(롬5:12-21)
The death of Jesus Christ upon the cross not only provided us remission/forgiveness of our sins and thus made us righteous but it lead us from inevitable death to eternal life. The wages of sin is death but by Jesus Christ’s resurrection, we have overcome this inevitability and have been given a new path to life. As we have received Christ as our Lord, He allowed us to hope for salvation and with Him, we die to death and live for eternal life. We must remember this blessing of eternal life that we have received by His grace and righteousness.

3.        세상에 대하여 죽고 하나님 나라에 대하여 살았습니다.
We have died to the things of this world and live for His Kingdom

이제 그리스도의 십자가를 통해 의롭다 인정함을 받고 영생의 복을 누리게 된 우리 성도들은 더 이상 세상에 속한 자들이 아닙니다. 그리스도께서 십자가의 죽으심으로 모든 육신의 연약함을 벗어버리고 부활하사 하늘 보좌로 올라가신 것처럼, 우리 성도들 역시 그리스도의 십자가에 우리의 연약하고 죄악된 육신의 정욕을 못박고 세상에 대하여 죽음으로써 하나님 나라에 속한 거룩한백성이 된 것입니다. 그러므로  성도들은 모든 세상 정욕과 자랑에 끌려다니거나 그것에 연연해 해서는 안됩니다. 세상애 대하여는 죽었다 함은 그 어떤 세상의 자랑이나 가치도 무익하게 여기고, 그 어떤 세상의 핍박과 저주도  아무것도 아닌 것으로 여길 수 있어집니다. 이제 우리는 하나님 나라에 대하여 살아난 자로서 하늘의 영광만을 소망하며 하나님 나라의 가치와 의에 따라서만 살아가는 하나님의 귀한 자녀임을 기어해야 합니다.(엡6:14)
Through the cross of Christ Jesus, we have been acknowledged as righteous and have received the blessing of eternal life and so we are no longer of this world. By Jesus Christ’s death on the cross, our weakness of the flesh have been nailed to the cross and by His resurrection we have become citizens of God’s Kingdom. Thus we must no longer be bound to the things of this world. To have died to this world means that we no longer hold on to pride for things of this world and the pains and hardships of this world have no dominion over us. As those who have been resurrected with Christ, we hope for the glory in Heaven and follow His righteousness as precious children of God. (Ephesians 6:14)


결어 Conclusion
우리는 그리스도의 십자가가 지니고 있는 죽음과 생명의 원리를 바로 깨달아야 합니다. 그래야만 그리스도의 십자가를 믿고 따르는 우리 성도들 앞에 있는 죽음과 삶의 문제도 바로 인식할 수 있기 때문입니다.
그리스도께서는 죄와 사망과 세상 정욕의 모든 문제를 십자가에 못박아 소멸시키시고 의와 영원한 생명과 하나님 나라의 영광을 회복시키셨습니다. 그리스도의 십자가 사역을 믿고 의지하는 모든 성도들 역시 죄에 대하여 사망에 대하여 세상에 대하여는 죽은 자요, 의와 영원한 생명과 하나님 나라에 대해서는 산자로서 진정 복된 삶을 누리게 된 것입니다.
We must realize the principle of death and life that the cross of Christ Jesus has. Only then can we become aware of the path we have before us as we place our faith in His cross and follow his cross.
Jesus Christ nailed all sin, death and all the things of this world to the cross so that it would all be resolved and thus restored the righteousness and eternal life and glory of God’s kingdom. As we place our faith in our Lord Christ Jesus and His sacrifice, we too have nailed sin, death and the things of this world to the cross and now live as those who have been blessed with the righteousness of Christ Jesus and eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven.
