Do you have faith that is pleasing to God?
17:23-34, Acts 17:23-34 New International Version (NIV)

23 For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. So you are ignorant of the very thing you worship—and this is what I am going to proclaim to you.
24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. 26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. 28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’[a] As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’[b]
29 “Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by human design and skill.30 In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. 31 For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.”
32 When they heard about the resurrection of the dead, some of them sneered, but others said, “We want to hear you again on this subject.” 33 At that, Paul left the Council. 34 Some of the people became followers of Paul and believed. Among them was Dionysius, a member of the Areopagus, also a woman named Damaris, and a number of others.

To have faith that is pleasing to God is to go to God, to seek Him and to know he is present and believe in the fact that to these He will give His blessings.

Once upon a time, an adult called a child and told the child that if he tells him where God is, he will give the child a candy bar. The child answered, “Sir, if you prove that there is no God, I will give you two candy bars”.

– The evidence that God exists
God spoke to Moses in Exodus 3:14, “I am who I am” and it is He that sent Moses to Israel. However

Among atheists, there are the practical atheists that act as if there is no God and then there are the theoretical atheists that try to prove that there is no God.

Agnostic is a person who believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God or of anything beyond material phenomena; a person who claims neither faith nor disbelief in God.

Pantheists believe in the universality of nature and divinity of an immanent God and that this God is hidden and does not have a personal nature.

Polytheists believe that nature and everything special as gods.

However, God must have the character of being omnipotent, immutable (unchanging), omnipresent, eternal. We believe in this God. We live a dynamic life rather than a static one, positive rather than negative, and are optimistic with hope in God.

       – We must meet God

People’s paths are opened through meeting. Depending on who we meet, our life, habits and even our personality is determined. Thus we must strive to make our meetings productive and creative.
Human beings meet from the moment they are born. Through countless meetings, the most important meeting is the one with our Lord Jesus Christ. To not have this important meeting among the countless meetings of ones life that spans eighty years can only sadly be no better than that of animals.

However, there are meetings that we must try to avoid in this world. Certain meetings can lead to hurt, pain, failure and even death.

Yet, through all these meetings, there is one meeting that will not be a waste of your time and will rather give you hope and life. He brings peace to those who’s lives are in a mess. He brings liberation and freedom to those who are oppressed and solace to those who are in pain. He heals and cures those who are ill. He brings light to those who are in darkness. He brings life where there is death. He brings us close to our God. With these truths and gifts being given without usury by meeting Jesus Christ, how can we deny that he is a messenger of good news and blessings.

Meeting God is a rejuvenation of body and soul. The Spirit becomes the center and foundation of everything that we are.

Many people want to meet this God but what effort are we putting forward to meet him?
In order to seek an answer to this, an author by the name of Anthony Bloom wrote in his book “The reason God is absent”, these four things:

        – We must seek God with all of our strength

The reason for his absence is described by Anthony Bloom as follows:

Of the 24 hours we have in our day, how much time do we spend
       seeking God?

One week is 168 hours
          We sleep eight hours a day for 7 days = 56 hours/week
        We work 8-12 hours a day for six days = 48-72 hours/week
    식사시간 5 x 7 = 35시간
We spend five hours a day eating for seven days = 35 hours/week
This totals 139 hours at a minimum. This leaves us 29 hours
at most per week for other things.

The moment we are able to meet God, that will be the moment of
       reckoning and judgment.
In 1 Samuel 6:19-20, God struck down 70 just for looking into the ark. Who
can stand in front of God?
In  Romans 14:10, it states that we all will stand before God’s judgment seat.

We are too meek and lowly to meet God
All flesh is like the grass and all glory is like the flower
    (1 Peter 1:24; Isaiah 40:6-8)

We are unable to submit ourselves, as we are

형제들아 하나님의 모든 자비하심으로 너희를 권하노니 너희 몸을 하나님이 기뻐하시는    거룩한 산 제사로 드리라 이는 너희의  드릴 영적 예배니라 (로마서 12:1,2) Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God (Romans 12:1-2)

We must seek the true God
He is the creator (Acts 17:24-26)
He created order where there was chaos
       (Romans 1:23; 8:18-23; Revelation 21:5)

“and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles” (Romans 1:23)
consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. 19 For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope21 that[a] the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.
22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. (Romans 8:18-23)

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” (Revelation 21:5)

(John 8:44)
         – He has given us faith where there was a void

44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:44)
In the beginning the earth was a void. He filled this void with many things. He created light, atmosphere, waters, land, and placed flora and fauna on land, sky and water. Then he created man and entrusted all this to him. And as he looked upon His creation, he said it was good not just once but seven times.

He gave light in the darkness (1 John 1:5; John 8:12; Matthew 5:11-16)

1:5) In the beginning everything was void, filled with chaos and darkness. He said, “let there be light”. Our God IS the light.
The darkness is the world. This world hates to keep God close to its heart and thus is prey to His punishment. This is why we must not plant our roots in this world as it will incite God’s anger. The ones that plant their roots in this world will not be able to inherit the kingdom of Heaven.
바로 하나님이  빛이시요(요일1:5) 그 빛을 예수님 받아 이 땅에 오셔서 어두움을 밝히셨습니다.(요8:12) 예수님을 우리가 영접하게 되면 우리도 어두움에서 빛의 자녀가 됩니다.(마5:11-16) God is the Light and it is this light that Jesus brought to this world and chased away he darkness. If we receive Jesus Christ into our lives, then we become children of the light.

     – The way to seek God (The way to see God)

      – Seeking with sincerity and prayer will lead you to God

If we seek him with all of ourselves, we will meet Him

“너희가 내게 부르짖으며 와서 내게 기도하면 내가 너희를 들을 것이요, 너희가 전심으로 나를 찾고 찾으면 나를 만나리라” (예레미야 29:12,13) 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:12,13)
17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.
       (Proverbs 8:17)

         Ask, Seek, Knock (Matthew 7:7-8)

“구하라 그러면 너희에게 주실 것이요 찾으라 그러면 찾을 것이요 문을 두드리라 그러면 너희에게 열릴 것이니 8 구하는 이마다 얻을 것이요 찾는 이가 찾을 것이요 두드리는 이에게 열릴 것이니라” (마태복음 7:7,8) 7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

When we believe in the prophecy of God

The wise men believed in the prophecy and they followed the star to the birthplace of Jesus Christ.

To hear God’s word and obey just like Cornelius (Acts 10:1-48)

Cornelius was told to seek out Peter and he obeyed and sought Peter to hear the gospel and once he did his entire household was filled by the Holy Spirit.

–Peace and holiness will lead you to God

– How can we meet the true God?

We can find God in the things of this world

         – God can be found in nature

           – God can be found in history

We can find God in our hearts

You can meet God through each other

We can meet God through our conscience

         - We can find God in the bible
We can see God through the commandments

God is shown to us through the Gospel
